Punjabi Cultural Council is preserving, promoting and popularizing mother tongue Punjabi including rich culture and heritage of Punjab at National level. It also carries out diverse activities and awareness campaigns in realizing the aims and objects to their logical finale.
The Council had also organized a gala cultural function at Ludhiana on 18th December 2009 and also presented the prestigious “Punjab Rattan” award to the then Punjab Education Minister Dr. Upinderjit Kaur for her historical contribution in ensuring the Punjabi as an official language of the State as well as making Punjabi compulsory in educational institutes and subordinate courts.
Besides this, the Punjabi Cultural Council has also organized a seminar on “Save Environment-Save Punjab” at Sangrur in July 28, 2012 to create awareness amongst the masses. On the occasion three well known and dedicated personalities were honoured with annual awards that included Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal (Environmentalist), State Awardee SP Singh Oberoi (Philanthropic) and Harcharn Singh Bhullar IPS (Social Service).
The Council has also sponsored traditional martial art Gatka demonstrations to preserve and promote this rare art among the masses by involving young Gatka players and enrich the knowledge of rich culture and heritage of Punjab.
The Council has also distributed pamphlets creating awareness to promote Punjabi mother tongue in other Punjabi speaking areas.
Awareness campaigns on world Environment Day, World AIDS Day and International Languages Day were also launched.
Punjabi inscribed keyboard stickers for computer operators were also distributed free of cost to the beginners for easy typing of Punjabi language.
